New solutions for familiar challenges in potable water installations
Whether repairs, refurbishments or extensions – specialist tradesmen always come up against the same challenges when working with existing potable water installations made of galvanised steel: limited space, lack of compatibility of different piping systems and laborious thread cutting process. Particularly in older buildings, replacing or extending components is a real test of patience.
Viega is meeting these challenges head on with a targeted product extension: to the tried-and-tested Megapress adapter made of silicon bronze (model 4213.2). New variants are being added for potable water installations:
- Model 4211.4 with male thread (R)
- Model 4212.4 with internal thread (Rp)
The new models extend the proven Megapress system and offer greater flexibility, safety and speed during installation. The Megapress adapters make it easier to retrofit fittings, for example – and without thread cutting or the use of special fittings. For maximum safety, speed and easy installation.

Suitable for thick-walled stainless steel pipe
The new Megapress adapters can even be used for pressing of thick-walled stainless steel pipes made of the materials 1.4301, 1.4306, 1.4307, 1.4401, 1.4404, 1.4541, 1.4550 and 1.4571 in accordance with DIN EN 10216-5 and DIN EN 10217-7. This covers an extremely wide range of applications – from potable water pipelines to industrial applications.
Model 4213.2 also for thick-walled stainless steel pipes
The existing model 4213.2 from production date 12.09.2025 can also be used for thick-walled stainless steel pipes . The date can be found on the product label above the barcode on the packaging material.
Durable materials and maximum safety
As with its predecessor model, with the new adapters Viega is consistently focussing on high-quality materials and tried-and-tested technology. The components are made of silicon bronze – ideal for use in sensitive potable water installations.
Another safety feature is the tried-and-tested SC-Contur. This ensures that unpressed connections are detected immediately during the leakage test – a decisive contribution to installation safety. For maximum transparency, each component is labelled with a green dot and a green "pressed" sticker which clearly denotes tested quality and standard-compliant implementation. The integrated sealing element is made of EPDM, which was specially developed for use in potable water pipelines.

The installation time is significantly reduced by pressing the piping. The effort involved is significantly less than with conventional methods such as welding or soldering and is also possible in locations that are not readily accessible. The system elements can be connected in less than 20 seconds, which reduces the assembly time by up to 60 %.

Special welding or soldering steps that would otherwise be necessary, for example, no longer required. The pressing system is also less prone to faults and therefore lasts longer than alternative methods.

This reduces the risk of flying sparks or human error - a major advantage, especially in environments that are sensitive or difficult to access. It also minimises the need for special health and safety measures and approvals.
The new adapters are easy to install thanks to the flexible sliding area
Another practical highlight of the new Megapress adapters is the integrated sliding area. This allows even easier assembly – ideal if, for example, a fitting such as a slanted seat valve is to be retrofitted. Installation is carried out step by step and is extremely simple.
